DRAFT SCHWARZENEGGER

(Anonymous) 2016-05-27 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just going to say it. Trump has terrible approval ratings, and a lot of Republicans will stay home rather than even vote. Clinton has better approval ratings, but also bad--too low to ensure her election.

These are two "unelectable" candidates. Many Republicans are planning to vote Clinton to stop Trump; some Democrats are going to vote for Trump to stop Hillary. These candidates suck so hard that each party's base will cross party lines to try to inflict the other guy on America.

There's a third option.

If we can get enough legislative leaders on board, we can ratify a constitutional amendment over the summer getting rid of that "natural born citizen" requirement, which has been a headache for several candidates anyway. There will still be the required 14 years of residency, I suppose.

And we get Arnold Schwarzenegger to run.

Popular enough to beat Trump and Clinton at their own game. Actual executive experience. A realist on climate change, a Republican but not a movement conservative, a Catholic, and a physical fitness advocate. He's the best option to swoop in and save us from Trump & Clinton. And the only thing stopping him is a clause in the Constitution.

Who's with me?

I have no opinion on the guy but AYRT's comment was all about changing the constitution so that's no longer an issue

The only election I didn't vote in since I've been old enough is the one that put him in the governor's office. It's one reason I've only missed one election, because I don't want it to happen again. So no.
