I honestly haven't formed an opinion about this yet, so I'm reading comments for one side or the other with interest. The reality is that very soon automation may reach the point where the number of jobs available decreases dramatically, and there will be a very real choice between this or abject poverty for much of the population. Which would make universal income in the interest of the wealthy elites, because desperate people have nothing to lose by revolution.
