Why can't I have a rice cooker to make sushi rice for homemade sushi? I've got literally ALL THE INGREDIENTS FOR THE SUSHI I WANNA MAKE. I JUST WANNA MAKE SOME OLD FASHIONED KAPPA MAKI (CUCUMBER ROLLS) AND GUNKAN MAKI (GUNBOAT ROLLS, AKA THE ONES WITH FISH EGGS COMING OUT OF THE TOP).

I've never owned a rice cooker, and as long as you're prepping the other ingredients nearby so you can hear if the pot stops burbling, you're unlikely to burn rice if you make it in a regular pot. Just dump the rice and water in a pot with a lid and put the heat on low. When it's almost done, take it off the heat and let it steam and absorb the last of the water with the lid on. White rice takes less time and water. I've never made sushi rice so I'm not sure if it needs rinsing first (maybe not since it's supposed to be sticky.) and you add rice vinegar at the end, I think.

My only problem with the regular pot is--my family won't fucking leave it alone.
