Re: Alcohol

Vodka is not tasteless. I wish people would stop perpetuating this.

Vodka has a taste, and the taste is like fuel, or rubbing alcohol. It is harsh and nasty. This applies even to the "good" vodkas.

If someone doesn't want to taste alcohol, they should not use vodka. At all. Ever.

I think the taste you are describing is the taste of the alcohol itself. Vodka doesn't have much added taste.

But that is a taste. You can't just say "this has no taste...except for this taste."

I just think that's the reason people call vodka tasteless. It is poor wording, I agree with that.

The OP was asking about alcohol for peope who don't like the taste of alcohol, so if the taste of Vodka is the taste of alcohol, then people who don't like the taste of alcohol won't like the taste of vodka.

I don't know, it seems pretty tasteless to me. It is one of the few things that I can't taste when I put it into other things. The other main ones (tequila, gin, rum, etc.) all still taste pretty strong even when mixed with other things.

I can always taste it. Always.

Re: Alcohol

It isn't. As someone who doesn't drink because I can't stand the taste of alcohol, I came to realize that some people genuinely don't taste what I taste. When you add vodka to, say, a glass of orange juice, you may not be able to tell that it's an alcoholic drink. I can. Because it tastes like fermented OJ that's been left in the fridge too long. Now gin, rum, etc. might be more obvious, but there is NO alcohol that is truly tasteless to me, because all alcohol has a flavor.

THIS. People who say vodka is tasteless don't really understand that alcohol has a taste. Yes, even vodka. I'm not the OP, but I promise you that I, too, greatly dislike the taste of alcohol and I can absolutely, positively tell when it's been added to juice or soda, because then the juice or soda has a nasty bitter taste to it.
