Surely the only thing that should determine whether they're a good choice is whether they can act and are the best fit for the part? Or have we now decided that noone white is allowed to be accomplished at anything, because they don't have magical non-white skin? Fuck that.

Yeah it's definitely super concerning how no white men get to be accomplished at anything, ever. Terrible discrimination. :( And the very few white men who have gotten any nice roles have totally gotten them simply because they're the best actors, no other reason at all.
