Re: Dog and thunderstorms

My dog got really panicky during storms. It helped if you took her to a room where she couldn't pace around, and couldn't see lightning. This usually meant taking her to the bathroom, closing the door, and sitting with her. Granted, that wasn't a lot of fun, but it kept her from going crazy. (Obviously I do not recommend putting her in the bathroom by herself.) Also, you could sometimes trick the dog. Going into the bedroom, closing the door and the curtains, and listening to loud music that drowned out thunder before she really heard it. Though any really close thunder would alert her. The loud music never bothered her, though.
