Having been in a similar situation, once upon a time, I'd suggest you highlight the most egregious repeating errors in one section and tell them that they need to look for them in the rest, and then resubmit to you.

That may help a little, unless the entire manuscript is word salad, in which case, you could suggest they read the thing out loud, redraft, and resubmit.

+1 If a significant amount of the fic is like that sentence, that's asking too much even if they did you a favor, anon. You agreed to beta, the least they can do is write coherent sentences.
