You could probably thank Guardians of the Galaxy for that one. After the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 became pure lightning in one bottle, it seems like Marvel Studios is trying to catch more of it.

I think it's down to a couple things... firstly, that filmmakers really want to inject the music they love into the work they make, and secondly, that companies are willing to pay for it because their target demographic is super into hearing the music of their youth in mainstream movies now.
