I'm apparently the only person who liked those movies.

Not at all. I liked them, too, for what they were: fun winter blockbusters with swordfights and dragons. That's what I went in expecting, that's what I got and I'm happy with it.

I liked them until the third one, and the extended edition of that turned what goodwill I had left to hate.

Nah, I liked 'em. There were some elements about them I found deeply regrettable, especially the third one, but there were enough good things about them that I could actually see myself watching all three again, provided I could fastforward the parts I didn't like. It's like they had good bones but the flesh was patchy, as it were.

Yep. Their box office earnings as a trilogy were nearly 3 billion, but you're the only one who likes them. /eyeroll

AYRT
I didn't realize I was supposed to know that. All I know is everybody I know who saw them bitched about them.

I actually like the first one quite a bit. The other two were more disappointing than anything.

Amazingly, critical reception on these films wasn't even that bad, and of course they made tons of money.

I liked them, too. Not to every little detail, but there were many things I actually loved, so re-watching them is still fun for me.
