Currently, how fandom tries to turn every bullshit thing into a social justice issue, and HOW DARE YOU if you don't buy in.

Like, yesterday I had a post on my dash about how if you're in the DA fandom and you don't reblog all those posts speaking up about whitewashing then you're a racist and just as bad as the people making those mods. Like, no. No, sorry sweethearts, but someone not reblogging your rants doesn't make them a racist.

Then there was the "make Emily gay" thing in the Dishonored fandom. Apparently b/c Arkane hasn't definitively announced that Emily will have a gf in DH2 that makes them horrible bigots. Because Dishonored is known for its romance plotlines, right? And the game is coming out in a few months so that's plenty of time to shoehorn a romance in to appease a handful of teenagers, right? And anyone who says they don't care if Emily has a gf or not is also a lesbophobe.

I have no idea what DH2 is but I've seen this exact wank so many times. I even start second guessing myself, like is it really okay that I could care less?
I've never really understood demanding things from creators - it seems like there are so many moving parts, how do you know what you're going to get? I'd prefer they try their best and then I can decide afterwards if I think it's shit.

DH2 is Dishonored 2, the sequel to Dishonored. A game which, if you aren't familiar with the franchise, contained no romances at all beyond the vaguest of references, and was entirely focused around it's central action+stealth plotline and gameplay.

Dishonored 2 comes out this November after having been in development several years, and this crusade to make Emily a lesbian started about a month ago. I've even seen multiple people say that just including a bit of flavor text or a piece of dialogue isn't "enough", and that the studio needs to include a full-blown Bioware style romance.

The whole thing is goddamn ridiculous.
