44. Oh jesus. Calm the hell down. As someone who read the book many years ago, then when the movie came out and AGAIN in more recent months, I still love and adore the movie. It's very different from the book, to be sure, but it's a Miyazaki creation. He gave it his own flair. In many ways I view the two as separate works with simply the same fundamentals and as such I love them both.

Chill. (And also fail. Howl/Sophie only implied? I can only assume you're referring ONLY to this context or you've never read Castle In The Sky. If you haven't, you should; I actually like it more than Howl's Moving Castle. And besides, the scene at the end with them holding hands and smiling at each other while they tune the world out? that was pretty clear. ): and cute. or so I thought.)

Word, word, word on 44. I've read the book and watched the film many, many times. And Castle in the Air. (That's the sequel to HMC - Castle in the Sky's another Miyazaki film.)

....... wow. I .. can't believe I did that! That's hilarious. I've seen Castle in the Sky only once, and I've read Castle in the Air at least four times. You'd think I'd know the difference by now! fail, me.

Still! I kind of wonder if the OP even read Castle in the Air. Because -- lol, BABY. I don't know where "only implied" comes from.
