Yeah, the controversy over Blurred Lines is about whether the singer/producers/target audience seriously believe that date rape is sexy fun times.

And it's a reasonable fear, given that there are a ton of people who can't tell the difference between real-world date rape and sexy fun times.

Whereas it's easier to believe that the public in general, and Peter Gabriel in particular, don't approve of non-fictional stalking or breaking into people's homes to assault them.

I agree. I haven't listened to the songs the OP is talking about, but they sound like they are intended to be creepy and disturbing, while Blurred Lines doesn't seem to realize that it is.
