Carla's a glorious asshole, but Mary is a bigger, non-glorious asshole. That transphobic, homophobic, holier-than-thou, hypocritical bongo is lucky she just got a pie in the face.

Mary just wanted to be left alone. What did she do to Carla before Carla started harassing her with the rollerskates?

Carla was just testing her new skates in the hall, which was wrong, but not that loud. She wasn't trying to harass Mary. Also, Mary has a history of going ballistic on anyone who makes any kind of noise in the halls.

That you're stanning so hard for a character that is deLIBerately intended to be completely unlikeable says a lot about you.

DA. There are at least two of us in this thread and it says a lot more about Willis that his good guys are just as unlikeable (or even more) as the ones that are supposed to be the bad guys.

Do you have reading comprehension issues? I just pointed out that it isn't only the OP that's arguing with you, I didn't say shit about any majority.

Two people not liking her is not proof she's just "that unlikeable" it means that two people share an opinion.

Yes, and it's called bad writing when people start hating the characters they are supposed to be rooting for. A pretty common point of debate on this forum.

Please honey, a character isn't badly written simply because you cannot like them.

The world doesn't revolve around you and your opinion.

It's great that he makes his characters flawed. It's not great that he insists that his minority characters are in the right even when they are the ones acting like assholes.

It also doesn't help that his LGBT characters have to constantly remind the others that they are, in fact, LGBT. "I'm Becky and I'm a LESBIAAN! Did I tell you that I'm a LESBIAAAN!"

It's one thing to say they're in the right, it's another to say that the blackmailing bigot trying to get away with harassment is more likable than the prankster.

In this particular case Carla was doing the harassing and coming back repeatedly after being told to go away. So yes, in this case she wasn't the more likeable one.

Being a childish, immature brat is worse than being a transphobic, hateful, blackmailing bully. TIL

Carla was being kind of obnoxious, yes. But A) it was the middle of the afternoon, not quiet hours or anything like that, B) we've seen that Mary is constantly poking her head out of her door to investigate any unusual noise in the hallway, rather than just learning to live with it as part of dorm life, and C) if Carla's skating was really so intolerable to her, the correct response would have been to go to an RA or someone else in authority about it.

Instead, Mary chose to destroy Carla's property (in a way that could have caused her nasty injuries). Then, when Carla confronted her about the ruined skates, Mary hurled transphobic abuse at her - which to me suggests that she was probably more looking for an excuse to put the "misplaced freak" in her place than really that mad about the skating. I'd say Carla had good reason to want to get back at Mary for that, especially since Ruth had proved that she wasn't going to stick up for Carla.

Carla was hopping outside the door to irritatE Mary, and she yelled to leave her alone first.

After Mary destroyed her skates.

After Carla repeatedly rudely ignored Mary's requests to stop.

Your neighbor being obnoxious is not a valid excuse for destroying their property!

Look, as someone who spent my entire second year of college dealing with some VERY loud neighbors in my building, my sympathy was with Mary at the beginning. But no matter what my neighbors were doing to make noise, I would NEVER have considered destroying their stuff in retaliation. That shit is not okay, and Carla had every fucking right to be pissed off, especially since good skates are not cheap.

And even aside from the property destruction, TRANSPHOBIA AND BLACKMAIL AREN'T OKAY EITHER

Because Mary's an unlikeable, insufferable cockbat and Carla is childish. It doesn't warrant transphobia or blackmail.
