Can we draw a distinction between the specific tactics that the people OP was talking to used, and the position they were arguing for? The reason that YKINMK is good has nothing to do with whether the people that OP was talking told someone to kill themselves.

Well, what I mean, I guess, is that it would be possible for someone to object to linking to RPF smut - or whatever - without bullying, harassing, or encouraging suicide

So, like, to me, I would say, the piece about kinks and the piece about suicide encouragement are not fundamentally linked.
