As I understand it, the profiling is mostly unrealistic in the sense that they always get information they need and solve the case.

And apparently the one big request of the actual BAU when the show was being created was that the TV series show that the FBI wants to work with local police, and not against them/without them. "Don't make our job harder."

Just thought that was interesting. :)
