I can't even wrap my head around this situation, because RPS is the dominant side in my fandom, and they are the ones who bully people and send death threats and cry oppression and homophobia when anyone says they're not into it.

I honestly thought that was the norm in fandom nowadays.

Glee, too, I think. In part because there's no new canon. But even among the crowd that's just shipping (not even writing fic) there's tons of hate and slurs flinging on all sides.
