That's my biggest worry with the casting choice. Detta's a horrible human being, but she's a horrible human being with very compelling reasons. Hopefully they'll manage to tweak her reactions and motivations to keep that sympathetic edge in light of the primary source of conflict between her and Roland in the books no longer being applicable.
