I think I've decided on recent reread of the Potter books that the later books don't go dark enough. Like, they are darker and more adult without going all the way. Deaths happen off screen several times. We don't get to see the aftermath of stuff as much. And emotional affects don't seem to last (like, Harry in book 5 made sense to me, but then in book 6 after losing his godfather it was like he didn't feel it at all). And also the romances all felt very childish in the way they were written.

I liked the films more before, but I've liked them less and less. There are still some great bits, and most of the adult cast is great. But just some really bad choices were made that ruins big chunks of them both in character and plot.
