A part of me wants to go named in this community - I even briefly had an account for it (though only used it like twice, something like two years ago). I use it so often and most of the time I think I'm edgy and tough enough to endure dogpiling by both anons and named users.

But honestly, this community can be such a bunch of dicks. I love you all, but some of you are such dicks, lol. I really admire all the named users who stick around even when other users/anons constantly dogpile them. I appreciate the persistence and I think it's in the spirit of this community, but I don't think I have the balls to go named myself.

The only really nasty trolls are the ones who exploit personal tragedy in order to play their demented games. Looking at you, person trolling dethtoll about his dad; that's some reprehensible shit and I hope karma gets you.

Like all of my fanclub that anon is fucking hilarious to me. They're willing to reduce themselves to "super ultra mega douche" just to try and make me look bad. That's dedication. Or, you know... psychopathy :)

While I totes welcome more named users, there's nothing wrong with going anon. It would feel bizarre if this community didn't have anons.

I've been lucky in that people haven't been dickish to me, but of course I understand that you never know how people are going to perceive you, or how they'll react to your comments, so I get where you're coming from. There are both good and bad things about having a username, and each person has to decide if the effort and 'risk' is worth it.

People say this a lot but I can count the number of mean comments I remember getting on one hand (though in the interest of full disclosure, I have a really bad memory). Overall people have been incredibly nice to me here.

I think you might as well try going named. You can always go back to anon if the worst happens and you develop some haters.

I dunno. I've been jumped by a couple anons *and* named members, but...it is what it is. Fuck 'em really. When it comes down to it, this is a community of people online, and very little of what goes on here has any meaning or agency in my 'real' life.

So i guess you just gotta think...what exactly are you going to be saying that will get people being dicks to you? Are you really that 'out there', or do you just *imagine*?

And it's not like you couldn't make a named account, see what happens, and still post/comment anon, too. Courage! anon.

I don't care what my fanclub does to me (I think it's funny how hard they try) but I do hate when other people get jumped. I saw Vethica -- Vethica of all people -- get a shitty troll comment the other night. Fuck's up with that?

Some of the meanest trolls go after some of the nicest, most down-to-earth people here.

Truth. It's because they realize that those who aren't as nice will just tell them to go fuck themselves and not be bothered with it.

You did get the "it must be ketita!" thing once for a few secrets that were submitted by people who were Jewish in a specific fandom. But I think that's about it.

huh, that's true, now that you mention it. It's funny, because I never actually submitted any of those - I hate the wank they inevitably cause :( that sort of stuff stresses me out so bad, and I prefer to just keep fandom fun.
