Lol, you're not wrong. And all the butthurt responses justifying being bitter about someone else's preferences just prove your point.

It's not even about the white thing for me. It's about the Handsome Jack thing. I don't know if you've played Borderlands or not, but Jack is completely irredeemable and shipping him with Rhys makes me want to gag. I feel like people who like abusive ships should be forced to donate $20 to abuse shelters for every fic they diddle themselves to.

"I think your ship is awful and you should be forced to hand over money because I find your ship awful."

Personally, I don't support making fic preferences thought crimes.

Aaaaaaaand you reference 1984 like every other unthinking recepticle for right-wing rhetoric. Come back when you get some original ideas in your head.

How is what you're suggesting NOT thoughtcrime?

Seriously, if you're going to suggest something that sounds exactly like thoughtcrime, don't whine when people call it thoughtcrime.

You're ridiculous here, spouting off about how everyone who is into a ship needs to be FORCED to do this or that. Fuck off.

I'm not calling for them to be arrested and re-educated. I'm asking them to do something to counteract their contribution to the normalization of rape and abuse.

So what do I as someone who has secret fantasies no one knows about of being kidnapped, held hostage and coerced into sex, need to do to counteract the supposedly harmful effect I've had on society with my secret twisted fantasies?

What people wank to doesn't normalize shit. If it did, a whole lot of fetishes would be a whole hell of a lot more mainstream.

People flipping out and frothing at the mouth about horrible evil monster abusers! Literally Satan! does a lot to further the insidious undermining of abuse victims' experience, though, since it makes it all the easier for people to decide their friends and loved ones can't be abusers, not being horrible caricatures and all.

+1. I wasn't abused myself, but abusers often appear quite normal to other people, who then have a hard time believing the victim.

-Wants to make liking a ship you don't like a crime punishable by fine-
-Calls other people 'unthinking recipticles' with unoriginal ideas-

Hmmmm.

I am legitimately impressed you understood my 1984 reference. A self-righteous, unthinking tool who wants others to literally pay for their shipping preferences has read a book. Too bad you didn't learn anything from it.

To each his own. I found him to be very likable.
