I love the majority of f!s, even the people I don't talk to on a regular basis. F!S is like a weird little (fucked up sometimes, but loving) family, and I've missed it a lot these last (...however many) months.

Without it, I just don't have the same outlet to talk about my interests. It's good stress relief, and a hell of a lot of fun, and there's no other place like it.

Yeah, this place is the last bastion of old fandom for me. I keep coming back because this is the fandom I know and love... tumblr just doesn't get me the way you guys do.

Also, you're just great all around.

Tumblr can be fun (often mindless fun, but fun), but the discussion is few and far between, and you have to go to so much more effort to interact with people. It isn't my thing in the same way old fandom is, which you raise a good point about; there isn't much of it left. I'll always miss the LJ days, and hope for a return. (Even though...I think the climate of fandom has changed too much for that.)

Thank you! Your username cracks me up.

I'm glad you're back! :) You were missed.

Awww, thank you! <3 I'm glad to see you again! You always make me miss SGA.

Think I lost my SGA DVD's...ugh.

*luffs SGA*

Oh noes! I really do need to do a rewatch. I wish it was up at Netflix.

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-06-09 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
So do I! It's so nonsensical to me that SGA isn't on netflix. It would make things so much more convenient if it was available for streaming.

I bought the DVD's specifically so I'd have them ~forever~ then I got flooded. Boo.

Their whole 'what's available/what's not' is so weird. Boo for floods! That's the worst. It's hard to recover things from too much water.

You are going to make me fucking blush, BUT YOU ARE THE SWEETEST!!! ♥♥♥ God, that's a lot of hearts.

You deserve them though.

And I do genuinely love interacting with you as well, and always like catching you on tumblr. F!S is grand for bringing us together.

You're honestly one of my favorites. idk I just think you're cool.

I feel like you haven't been around lately much! Hope you're doing ok. Miss randomly chatting with you about Mass Effect :B

Of all the things I have been called in my life, this comment has two of the best. (First of all...favorite?! That's just ridiculous, but I'm super thrilled, and "cool" is like...the exact opposite of me, but I could bathe in that.)

Thank you so much!

I always enjoy speaking to you about Mass Effect and BioWare stuff as well. I feel like you are my go-to for those, and it's lovely to have someone so reasonable and pleasant to speak about them with on f!s.

(And as said in my other comment: I haven't! Been around much, that is. I'm doing...something, lmao, okay is probably not the best word, but I am alive! Miss you too!)

Actually, I was replaying ME2 and ME3 before all this crap happened, and I finally got to play ME3 again a couple of nights ago. Felt like home, man.

Man I need to get on this re-run thing. I want to get all the DLC first. But I've been putting it off because apparently that's a pain in the butt.

Do you have all the DLC?
elaminator: (Mass Effect 3: Wrex)

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-06-09 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I bought all the story DLC for ME2 and ME3. (What I didn't get from pre-ordering special editions and whatnot.) It was expensive, but so far completely worth it! I especially liked the Lair of the Shadow Broker, Overlord, and Omega DLC. Citadel is apparently the best thing BioWare has ever done, but I've been saving that one for last.

One day I'd like to play the original Mass Effect's DLC, but I really wanted to play ME2 and ME3 more first.

It is a pain, but if you have the funds and don't mind paying, the DLC has been pretty excellent and it adds a lot to the experience and story. (I'd be interested in hearing what you thought of them, if/when you play.)

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] diet_poison 2016-06-09 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I definitely will play them! Unfortunately, I'm such a completionist about things that I really want to get the ME1 DLC too and that's supposed to be...difficult.
elaminator: (Mass Effect 3: EDI)

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-06-10 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Eek, it might be... I hadn't actually checked it out yet, but I always assumed I could get them later.

I loved the original Mass Effect, but I was so much more into the gameplay and presentation of the series in 2 and 3 that I skipped to them again. I'll go back, but I had no patience at the time to deal with the controls again, lol.

If it's too difficult to get you could always watch a walkthrough, but I know that isn't the same, especially with a game like Mass Effect where the experience is such a personalized one. That's why I don't watch walkthroughs of BioWare games, unless I just want to check out a short moment I missed/haven't got to see yet and am insanely curious about.

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] diet_poison 2016-06-10 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you have to pirate some of the ME1 stuff because it's no longer available for purchase. (I try to avoid pirating but I have no qualms with it if you literally CAN'T buy the thing anymore!) But it's a little bit complicated to do. I'll get around to it heh.
elaminator: (Mass Effect 3: Jack)

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-06-10 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, damn. That's irritating.

I'm with you in that I see no problem with it being pirated if it isn't readily available, but since I play Mass Effect on 360 that would be a problem...

Now I wish I had a PC version of the games, but I spent a lot of money on ME (including the DLC'S), so I'm not paying for it again right now. lol.

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] diet_poison 2016-06-13 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
ahhh see I didn't realize you were on console (or if I did, I forgot). I have them on Steam (and Origin for 3 because fuck you EA).

My understanding is that the DLC for 1 isn't as good as the stuff for 2 and 3, so you're probably not missing that much.
elaminator: (Mass Effect: Kaidan)

Re: The compliment thread

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-06-13 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I played Mass Effect on console, but Dragon Age on PC. At the time of Mass Effect's release my computer wouldn't run the game, so I bought it on console, then later when I heard about Dragon Age I decided to buy a new PC that could run it. Instead of switching from 360 to PC I stayed with it, and it was still an incredible experience, I just would've liked the ability to screencap the hell out of the games...

So I'll try to play Andromeda on PC if at all possible. Hopefully there's a Dragon Age Keep type thing to input your previous choices.

I'm somewhat proud of my name, and I have no fucking clue why. Maybe I've just been using it so long that I think it looks nice. Either way, I appreciate hearing that it doesn't look too silly. :p

Thank you! I like your posts too. We've had some good discussions about the MCU in the past. (And our munchkin, Bucky-kins. Wow, that sounds awful.)
