I hate how hormones can screw you up like that. I'm not looking forward to aging, but lord knows I'll be hay when menopause hits. I just get...violent tendencies. Last period I fortunately contained myself from writing an angry e-mail to a teacher.

I started welling up listening to Hozier on the subway last period. It's not cute. I get pissy more easily too.

So strap in folks, cuz I guess kallanda and I will be on the warpath in a few decades. :P

If puberty is any indication...you know what, no, let's not, please just keep me in an artificial coma.

Did you have a puberty from hell too??!

Edit: all puberties are from hell. I meant extra hell.

I wish someone had told me it can get worse as you get older (I'm in my late 20's and it's becoming a real effort not to humiliate myself or risk damage to relationships when it used to be, like, I felt really down for a couple days).

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2016-06-09 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It fluctuates for me? It was bad in puberty, then better in my early 20's, now it's worse again. Ugh.

I was half asleep babysitting my nephew and Fox and the Hound was on and almost cried because of how they couldn't stay friends, so I feel you.

There's nothing unusual about crying at The Fox and the Hound.

If crying at Fox and the Hound is wrong I don't want to be right.

I've cried at far dumber shit (Like spilling coffee grains on the floor, or not being able to find a favorite pen) because I'm a person with an immense amount of anxiety and sometimes I just explode in tears at the most random of moments because the frustration builds for so long, and eventually it gets too much. Doesn't matter how small the event, it can be the last straw, lol.

Wheeeeee.

Periods make it far worse, though. Geez, I'm moody on my period. (And so much angrier than usual.)

Oh man, I get so moody. I will cry at EVERYTHING, it's terrible. And I hate it because then everybody's like WHAT'S WRONG and I hate having to confess that nothing's really wrong, it's not you, it's just...
I feel you OP. (and this secret is adorable)

This is kind of adorable OP and I sort of feel you, I don't get weepy but everything pisses me off and my already short temper is ground down to nothing. So it's not the most fun time for different reasons for me.

I know that feeling. EVERYTHING either makes me a blubbering inelegant mess, or a Hulked out rage machine when on my period.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-09 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...I know your feel anon.

Only, instead of animal documentaries, it's my favorite shows I can't watch. Even cooking competition shows because I'll start sobbing if someone accidentally cuts themselves in the middle of competition--I cried like a bitch last week while watching Chopped, damn it.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-09 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the same way, OP. God, I hate my period. I tear up at almost everything. Those abused animal and hungry children commercials make me want to start sobbing. I teared up when "7 Years" started playing on the radio and I don't even like that song.

Planet Earth was a gorgeous documentary series and really well done... it choked me up a little bit too, even when I wasn't hormonal. /fistbump

(Anonymous) 2016-06-09 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why I prefer Snoop Dogg's version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KNdJUb7rpY

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
this is excellent thank you

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Animal documentaries are also my weakness when I'm PMSing. I either feel really weepy, or depressed, or angry, or a combo of all 3. And my legs ache like the bejeezus the whole time too. Damn you lady parts.

I know how that goes.

To all the people strugglign w/ hormones in the comments here. Have you tried black cohosh? I find it pretty helpful (it doesn't fix everything but it's made things easier). I also take primrose oil lately and I think it's a bit helpful for generally not feeling hungry all the time or having quite as severe hormone stuff. (But the black cohosh definitely helps when I remember to take it.)

FYI, I was always told raspberry tea would help, but it just made me feel queasy and sick. It never helped.

If you try something herbal and it doesn't work, there might still be something that will help you. And honestly they're not THAT expensive if they actually help!

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
If you have a family or personal history of liver issues, or you drink a lot, don't take black cohosh. It has a rare but serious side-effect of liver failure.

Well, at least you have a set time frame.

Because I have a tendency for tears any time something hits me just right. They can be because whatever it is makes me sad, touched, happy, even angry sometimes. My period woes are cramps, bloating, fatigue, and general annoyance that I have to deal the whole thing.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
on?
