I hated that storyline. Fassbender acted awesomely given the material he was given, bet blegh.

I hated that a) nobody gave a shit about comic book canon and characters' backgrounds and b) the wife and kid were actually decent characters that were clearly made for the sole purpose of being fridged.

I think it's the eye shape, personally. If they have the squinty eyes then they're ~teh ebuls~, or going to be paired with a bad guy, or act bad. (Ash's Charizard, for instance)

If they don't have squinty eyes and are paired with a bad guy, there's the comedic effect thing.

I feel you so hard. I actually posted a secret years ago about wishing it weren't super weird for Ti Moune to be my dream role since I'm so pasty. Make it a class-based Little Mermaid retelling set in Appalachia and I'd be set...but it still wouldn't be Once On This Island. :(

Oh gosh, me too. It's really attractive. I'm thinking of picking one of the darker skinned options in Pokémon Sun/Moon and getting blonde hair as soon as possible (assuming customisation is coming back) just because I like it that much.

I think it's not a secret cause so many people feel as you. i think it was sort of deliberate. Jadzia was such a stunning woman, both in looks and character, a replacement was a problem by default. So, they chose someone very different. I dunno, Ezri sort of grew on me.
