IDK, Jean seemed pretty timid in the first two x-movies. Always afraid of her power.

I feel that way about most of the casting. I liked Kurt, though.

Agreed on all points. It's awkward trying not to emphasize too much to my fellow Sansa fans how awful I think she is.

I did like some of her scenes but something didn't feel quite right for me at the same time, but honestly aside from Kurt I didn't really like any of the younger mutants that much.

She's a young girl/woman. Of course she is going to be more timid and unsure.

I keep wondering if she'd acted less timid if they had rewritten Jean as British instead of forcing her to put on that super slippery 'Murrican accent.

I thought it was very fitting given the Jean Grey we know of movie canon, namely the very unsure of herself, very scared of her own power Jean. And with good reason. Both in the original trilogy and now shes implied to not have much control, and way more power than she should.

However I couldn't stand that Sophie Turner couldn't do an American accent. I felt like she got hired because "ooh, talented actress who plays a redhead in The Big Thing Right Now" ans they didn't bother to see if she could pull it off.

Yeah I agree, comics Jean isn't timid but her characterization in the movies fits with the way she came off here. We used to have a joke that movie Jean is more like Lorna Dane than Jean Grey...

Her accent wasn't great but honestly she talks kind of weird on GoT too I think it's partly just how she talks?

I don't mind her being more timid but something about the actress rubs me the wrong way. She always looks (and sounds) as if she's on the verge of tears, imo.

Jean IS super timid, though.

Tbh, I really liked this Jean. For the first time ever, outside of Evolution, I liked Jean.

She had her own bits where she had a backbone. But as a teenager still letning to control her powers, it made sense that she was timid with the more powerful aspects.

I've never liked Jean until this movie, actually. She was more likable.
