Look at it this way -- if you're in (zero-gravity) space, heights stop mattering :)

I considered joining the Air Force when I was younger so I could A.) Pay for college & B.) Fly

I didn't. Probably should have. Though I'm not a huge fan of following orders for the sake of following orders. So probably good I didn't.

So I get it. It looks like the best thing ever.

My husband has been an airline pilot for over 25 years.

He first learned to fly planes as a way of facing his fear of heights.

I've had a flying lesson in an open-cockpit biplane, for a story I was writing. I hoped facing my fear of heights would cure it. Nope, not one little bit. But I got a lot of fics out of it!

I'm curious if you've tried virtual reality. Cockpit experiences are fantastic. I dunno if it would set off your fear of heights though - maybe a space game, where it's just a void?
