What is the one on the left? 🐱

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Constantine, I'm pretty sure.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
TBH it's hard for me to get that mad about it, since Supergirl is a much more important show, so if they had to save one...

(Anonymous) 2016-06-12 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Important in what way?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea whether the CW considered picking it up, but Constantine doesn't seem like it would have been a good match for the network's current style of programming.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Constantine had a cameo on Arrow. I don't see why it would not fit.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
What was Constantine's demo?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Comic book fans? I expect the same demo as any comic book show.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, Supergirl's demo is heavily female, which closely matches a lot of the CW's other programming. Arrow and The Flash I'm not as sure about but I'm pretty sure it's fairly similar. That's what I'm getting at.

Uh, no. Supergirl's demo is *comic book fans in general*(I know way more male fans than I do female), as is Arrow's, as is The Flash's, as is Legends of Tomorrow, as was Constantine, though geared more towards the adult end of the spectrum.

But the main thing they all have in common is that they are *all* based off of a comic book character.

Supernatural fans.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-12 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
...supernatural though

I honestly have no idea WTF Constantine is even supposed to be about aside from his cameo on Arrow.

But Supergirl, that's an easy premise to grasp even without watching the show (though for the record I watched all the first season :D )

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd probably understand if you watched the show. Or do you hold it against any show you don't watch because you don't understand it?

I will never not be sad over that show being cut short.

Television Worker Nonnie

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I can explain a bit of the how on this.

CBS owns the CW so Supergirl going from CBS to the CW means some major budget cuts and moving to Canada to be produced but it will be made.

NBC worked the deal for Constantine

Both were co-produced by Warner Brothers Television HOWEVER

Constantine was produced by DC Comics (their fledgling TV arm of the Comic Book Division).
The TV show they have that succeeded was Gotham which happened after Constantine.

Supergirl was produced by Berlanti Productions who also produce Flash, Arrow and Ledgends of Tomorrow (see a pattern?)

So Berlanti has an in at the CW that DC Comics doesn't have. Also Constantine was before DC Comics TV had a solid foothold in the market.

The Arrow episode that Constantine was in was "Haunted" from this past season.

I hope that we will see the character again and played by Matt Ryan who I thought did a great job.

Damn your supportable facts based on knowledge. Don't you know we prefer to assume all decisions are made based on personal reasons?

TWN here. I would say that part of it might have been for personal reasons since there was a shake-up in the pecking order at the Network about three weeks into the fall season and that can lead to cancelation of any programs that aren't doing what was "expect" and were not green lit by the new regime who cannot let a show that the previous regime green lit succeed unless it was already a success before the new regime has the network under their control.

TV and Film is a dirty little industry with lots of nepotism and ass kissing.

I really do think Constantine coming before DC had a good, solid foothold in the TV comic genre did it no favors.}:/

(Anonymous) 2016-06-12 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Constantine has been the best DC Comic tv show that has come out, with the exception of S2 Arrow. I don't really understand all the love for Supergirl and I am saying this as someone who is a big fan of her comic book counterpart. I wish the show would get a new writing staff and drop all the characters except for Kara, Alex, and John.
