I don't understand....

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think what OP is trying to say (and please correct me if I'm wrong, OP) is that they are a medical student doing their clerkship/clinical rotation. And as of right now, they are undergoing the OB/GYN rotation, and are struggling to find the course interesting. In the past, OP may have used a fandom favorite (Supernatural) as a form of escapism by relating their medical experience/schooling/life (?) with the television show. But this time, they can't do that with the OB/GYN rotation because the show/particular rotation are not akin to each other (like, at all).

As I said, this is ENTIRELY speculation on my part, but that's what I came up with when reading this secret. I could be completely wrong, but I'm speaking on personal experience, too.

OP

Pretty much; during other rotations, it was things like, "Oh, this happened to someone on the show" or "that character has these risk factors for this disorder," and so on, which was helpful in both remembering symptoms/treatments. But there is a distinct lack of pregnancy in recurring characters in the show (which is fine), and it has been a more difficult subject. Apparently the two are related (and my mnemonic device has broken down). I don't even.

Fanfic? Mpreg? Not the show itself, of course, and some fans avoid the fandom ...

It would seem being able to relate their studies to SPN somehow helped tbem understand the material. But they haven't found a way to relate OBGYN stuff, so it's harder learning.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
SPN doesn't have a female lead of sorts?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You're cute, anon.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a pregnant one, anyway.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretend you're a cultist preparing for the birth of a soulless abomination that's going to destroy the world.

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
And how far along can we get in the healthy pregnancy/labor/delivery/postpartum care before Sam and Dean attempt to murder the soulless baby to death... (No, seriously, that might, um. Might actually be helpful. Ridiculous, but there you are. Thank you.)

Why the fuck is Supernatural still a thing? How is its fandom still alive???

The show is still running. I think season 11 just ended? And another season is greenlit.

Is this your specialty?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's not your specialty, and it's just a whaddayacallit intern rotation, well, I guess you know you're not cut out to be a gyno.

If it is your specialty, you may be too psycho to be a gyno.

Maybe orthopaedics instead?

sounds like it's time for A-B-O!

Well

(Anonymous) 2016-06-14 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
You could go back to Mary having Dean and Sam. You could think about Ben and Lisa. You could imagine a Rosemary's Baby type episode and come up with disorders and/or diseases that would make a baby look like a monster/demon/child of Lucifer. There's the shape-shifter baby's origin. And there were quite a few babies in Season 11.

Time to make yourself a demon baby storyline!

Flashcards. All the flashcards. It's how I got through nursing school. Also apps that quiz you that you can put on your phone. Ultim App 8 is free. NCLEX Mastery is good too. Or you could also plot fic.
