Because Bronies couldn't hold the title of "Most Toxic Fandom" forever.

Bronies are no longer the force of nature they were several years ago from what I can tell. The SU fandom is pretty much the "Most Toxic Fandom" boogeyman now.

True.

The Bronie fandom pretty much died a death with that radical libertarianism episode.

Would you mind giving me a brief rundown of what happened with that? I don't follow the MLP fandom but was wondering why it seems to have fizzled.

They had an episode where the message was treating each other equally and giving other people equal worth meant erasure of personality to achieve that. Literally using equals signs to represent the erasure of personality. It did not go down well at all.

Really?! Is it more toxic than Sonic the Hedgehog's fandom? Because everything I've heard about that fandom convinces me that it's sole reason for existing is to make all other fandoms, no matter how insane the fanbase may be, look good in comparison.

I'll give you this much: Steven Universe has never produced an equivalent to Christian Weston Chandler.

That's a very good point.

Eh, personally I think that title still belongs to the Sherlock or Supernatural fandom. There's litterally entire wikis dedicated to all the drama and bullcrap they've both bulit up over the years.

I'd say only half or so of the SU fandom is toxic. Finding decent fans may not be super easy, but it's not completely impossible.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
This. Actually also add in the Doctor Who fandom. Or just the whole "Superwholock" fandom. That's literally the most toxic fandom. This coming from a person whose fandom will bash on people for liking new installations in the series or certain installations of the fandom that apparently everyone's supposed to hate. (*cough*a huge chunk of the Transformers fandom*cough*)

And also this. It may not be easy but it's not impossible. There's decent fans who just want to apply the science of gemstones to why Malachite was an unstable fusion, why Peridot grew unstable on Earth, and the caste system of Gems. Decent folk who notice that Peridot is ACES at math and that's why she got so good at music. I should know, I like that section of the fandom. I'm in that sane section of the fandom that likes to focus on the weirder shit--the actual gemstone-related shit.

Also in that section of the fandom that dissects characters' actions and tries to understand the psychology of the character while NOT defending their bad behavior.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah same. There's a lot of really chill artists and fic writers too. You just have to look for them.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
This is true! And sometimes they actually line up with the section I'm from: the science, math, and psychology nerd section.
