Re: God of War - Follow up from yesterday
(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 01:05 am (UTC)(link)It's a trailer, it isn't going to show the child's whole upbringing. Also, strength and killing (ie the ability to hunt and defend yourself) are pretty important in that kind of society. His son can't grow up to be an accountant.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 02:38 am (UTC)(link)Motherfucker if I hear one more thing about how this is justified by the necessities of a society that doesn't exist!

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 03:45 am (UTC)(link)and the fact that it's a violent video game is hardly a DEFENSE against the idea that it could be implicated in toxic masculinity!!!!
Re: God of War - Follow up from yesterday
And for the son: No, they couldn't show his entire upbringing. But they did have a choice of what they were going to show. Also the relationship they showed did not seem like it was full of open affection or anything. Look, I think that they meant for Kratos to be a loving if worried parent, it's just that by having him be so emotionally distant and rough, they reinforced the idea that emotions are weakness (which is part of toxic masculinity).
