To me the most disconcerting effect is that by the time you've been on hormones long enough to grow that much facial hair, your face will have reshaped and look a lot more masculine. I mean obviously not always, but the vast majority of the time the face changes happen way, way before the facial hair starts coming in. You don't get the bearded lady look.

They really should have just worked a lot more on mannerisms and accepted that the character didn't need to look like a man to be a man. Maslany is a great actress but this character got buried in the visual gimmick.

yeah some good contouring would have helped
