I really agree with you. Either something is messed up or it isn't. If it is, you can like it without pretending it's awesome, or having the excuse of real life abuse. Honestly RL abuse isn't an "excuse" it's an awful thing people deal with, and I don't see why it's become something related to how you do fandom. :/

More honest conversations might be helpful. I'm really done seeing all this crap about "cope shippers," though. If there's anything legit about it...well, I guess I just don't see it.

Just because you don't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist for other people. Not everyone thinks the same, and not everyone copes the same. Yes, not everyone who reads this stuff does it to cope. But some of us do.
