$7000 seems like an awful lot for a budget for two people. Honestly that's crazy. How long are you planning on going? For a weekend trip, I can usually get by on $700 TOTAL. I've been to Europe 3 times from the East Coast and never spent more than $3000 for the entire trip (each time was at a minimum of a week in Europe, but usually off season)

Are you on the East Coast or West Coast or Midwest? Or you planning on going somewhere vastly different?

Seattle, LA, Chicago, Washington DC or New York might be my suggestions for good museums and indoor stuff. New York is my top choice for museums if you haven't gone there before. Let me know what types of museums you're interested in and I can narrow it down a bit.

It depends hugely on where you are traveling from and what kind of standard you expect.

I feel like if you're already in the US, $7000 seems like a lot to travel on for two people.

Southern midwest, I guess. Europe would be cool and we'd like to go a week I guess. I'd prefer more science, history, or the like museums. Neither of us are into art.

Seattle is an option, it's usually not ridiculously hot there ever, but it might rain. The EMP and Sci fi museum are right next to the Space Needle and it's fun to walk around Pike Place market.

Washington DC is the best because of all the monuments and the museums are free. I love the American History and the Air and Space Museums. They are probably two of my favorite museums.

New York - well I've done mostly the art museums lately but I've been in and out of the city almost every week lately, so it has all sort of blended in.

Boston and Chicago both have really good science museums, but I haven't been to the museums there to comment directly.

I know London has a lot of amazing museums, but I'm not sure how much flights will cost and I know hotels are generally more expensive in the UK compared to getting a good room in the US. I loved Stockholm and they have tons of interesting museums (Vasa, ABBA, there's a cool photography one, the Nobel prize museum and tons of awesome architecture).

With your budget you could do several days in DC and then also take a trip up to New York or Philly. If you're in to history (Civil War/Revolutionary War) there's tons to do on the East Coast if you wanted to rent a car and drive to the various historical sites.

Let me know what you're thinking. (I love traveling)

The Ballard locks are also a fun place to visit in Seattle.

Do NOT go to Washington DC in the summer it is hot and crazy humid and also cicadas.
