Not amazing in the same way as yours... less inspiring and more oh holy shit did he really say that. My professor was from Eatern Europe (the Ukraine, I think) and an internationally famous scientist in his field.

I don't even try and understand the interplay between Eastern European countries. So much complicated history there.

I don't think it's quite that simple. :) Like I said, complicated history, complicated relationships.
