Re: Dental hygiene poll

Mine are in pretty good condition, and I had braces as a kid, so they're pretty straight/even. The only problem I have is that they're not as white as I'd like, and there's nothing I can do about it. I've used every type of whitening product imaginable (including the professional strength gel/trays you get from the dentist) and it just does nothing. I've followed the directions perfectly, but I've never seen any difference. I don't know whether my teeth are resistant to it or something, but obviously they have some issue, and it's seriously frustrating.

I've seen things that say you can't really do anything other than remove stains and restore them to their natural color, but if that's true then how the fuck do these Instagram girls have teeth that practically glow in the dark they're so white? That shit sure as hell isn't natural. I've even bought the products they've supposedly used to make their teeth so white, but they did nothing for me. It's so damn frustrating.

Instagram... it's probably a photo filter.

ayrt

That could be the case, but the YouTube "beauty" girls are the same way, and I don't know that there are filters for videos? Or maybe there are, and it's just some big secret everyone keeps or something.

I've seen "before and after" pictures advertising some product (and I've tried most of them) where the before is the same as my teeth now, and the after is blindingly white. I've never been able to get those results no matter what products I use so I don't know what the deal is.

Youtube video coloring and lighting and what not are usually edited in post. I remember once a youtuber (not even a specific beauty vlogger, just a youtuber who had pretty high def set up) posted a video that had a comparison of what their raw footage looked like compared to what you saw, and the difference was big.

Media lies to you, basically. Even media that pretends it doesn't, like the internet.
