There really is no "right" one. Whichever credit card you get, be sure and pay off whatever you charge as fast as you can. Otherwise you can land in a heap of trouble.

Stay away from credit cards with annual fees. You don't need that.

After that, I'd go with the lowest interest rate in a card that is accepted in places that are convenient for you. In my neck of the woods, that's Visa or Mastercard. Barely anyone accepts Discover or American Express.

Store cards typically have higher-than-normal interest rates, so I'd avoid them, although that was the first type of card I was able to use to start rebuilding my credit.

From someone who's been through the ups and downs, then got her credit score back up in the 700s within a few years of a bankruptcy (long story).
