I think tagviewer is working properly again if you update xkit...it is for me at least.

I do agree, more opinions would be a nicer thing to read. Even a good natured discussion between people.

If there are other people on tumblr hungry for the same thing, maybe try making meta posts there, or set up a comm on Dreamwidth to get some discussion going?

Some people will post their thoughts, but that's stuff isn't as popular so it's harder to find.

I second making a comm for it. You could even do in on tumblr if you wanted, but you'd really have to prompt people to send in stuff in by starting discussions.

xkit tagviewer fix!

Anon! My tag viewer was broken too but I fixed it last night! You need to uninstall the xkit you have and install new xkit (when i changed it kept all my settings!)

On the 15th June apparently tumblr did some update that broke a few functions and since original xkit is no longer updated...but new xkit is good to go. After install I did need to manually go to the extension and tell it to update to v4.something

Tags do pretty much seem like the tumblr equivalent of comments, and since that's how most people 'comment' on tumblr, that's mostly how I do it. (Since when I first started using tumblr, I heard how some users find it irritating for you to comment in the post.)

Still not sure why there's something wrong with commenting in the actual post, but I miss LJ too, anon. We've had so many secrets with the same sentiment, and I can only agree every time, lol. Probably sound like a broken record.

So I'll just say yet again...that's why I'm glad f!s is still around; it's a lot easier to have an actual conversation.

You could always create a community, but managing it and promoting it would take work and I'm not sure what you're comfortable with. (Me, I'd be too lazy for that sort of thing.)

I know tumblr hate is old blah blah, but seriously this is a big part of why I hate that fandom has migrated there, and Twitter is even worse. (What's even the point of Twitter? It's like Facebook with statuses but minus everything about Facebook that isn't a status, plus a character limit.) If fandom became journal-based I might participate a little bit again. Ideally I'd like to see a hybrid platform that has aspects of LJ and Tumblr, and run by people that are better than the mods of either one.

I'm glad because the vast majority of fandom's thoughts are dumb and only spread that idiocy further (and apply it to canon) no less. Always has been. People who say the dumbness came with Tumblr's trend for conciseness rather than in-depth meta are deluded, it's just that now at least with Tumblr it means there's overall less of them, even if the quality of thought hasn't improved.
