my cat used to love wand/fishing pole toys. They're a good way to play with them without getting your hands near them, so they can get their hunting instincts out but not associate hunting/playing with your body. Also my girlfriend's cat loves playing fetch, but idk how you teach a cat to do that.

My kitten actually does play fetch! Or at least carries things around in his mouth, like string and scrunched up paper. It's the funniest thing. None of my other cats have done that before.
