If it's not a necessity like work or school, leaving the house is enough to make me panicky and tense until I get home because I had a parent who would not let me set foot outside the front door unless I could justify the trip. And the few times I was allowed, there would always be a screaming match about how I left her alone all day when I got home. Even living on my own, I'm loathe to go out unless I absolutely have to.

I would highly recommend forcing yourself to go out every day for non-essential things (preferably for something highly enjoyable whenever possible, or maybe get yourself a small delicious treat everytime you go out or something) to try and unlearn this bullshit. :(

I've started small by trying to stop somewhere on the way home every day even if I don't need to. Like getting coffee or going to the drugstore even if I don't need anything. Just to break the association in my brain that I need to get home ASAP or Bad Shit Will Happen.
