I agree. I'm not a Twilight fan at all but I had friends who loved the series, but I never thought less of them for liking it.

A lot of people assumed that I was a Twilight fan and I felt like I had to overexplain why I didn't like it, and I recall at first feeling relieved that other people didn't like it either so we had a bit of fun making fun of the things we didn't enjoy (I read the first book but that was it). But when I saw anti-groups that really were into really trashing the Twilight fans, I felt like it grew into something else and I couldn't get on board with that.

Eventually it was easy to stay away from the Twilight series once people stopped asking me if I was a fan.
