So, I'm pretty sure I have scabies.Crazy itching in my hands and arms. I've got a doctor's appointment in a couple weeks, and I'm going to try to hold out until then. I think I can, considering I've already spent a couple weeks thinking it was allergies or dry skin or something.

I was going to put off this appointment, because I know I haven't lost the weight he wanted me to (it wasn't even an outrageous amount, just 10 pounds in six month of what will eventually be 100 that I need to lose, and I actually was for a while nearly there but then life stress got in the way and I fell off of doing all those good for me things like eating sort of right and exercising more often than hardly ever), but now I won't. And I might actually see if I can move it up.

Seriously, though, HOW? I don't have sex, is apparently the way 90 percent of people get it.

I'm just really glad all the itching is where it is. Eventually I'm sure I'll be prescribed some topical cream for it, which all the sources I've read from just say to apply "from the neck down." Like, what does that mean for the genital region, though? (Am a girl, here.)

SA
I'll also have to be sure to ask about my cat. I've been using cortizone cream for the itch (and some mosquito bites), but he's a licky boy, and I can't tell you the number of times he's been licking my arm before I remember I've used it and been like "NOO!!! STOP THAT NOW!"

You'd probably be better off asking a vet about the cream affecting your cat than your M.D.

If you are diagnosed with scabies and they give you the permethrin cream for it, do not let your cat lick it!!

Guess I better break out the long sleeves in July...

Scabies can sometimes be transmitted through secondary contact with an object an person with an outbreak has used very thoroughly. It's not usually how an infection occurs, but it can happen. This may be the case with you, particularly considering the localization is in your hands.

As for your cat, I wouldn't worry about the licking of cortisone cream too much. It's unlikely to cause much trouble if it just happens once or twice. Do try to keep the little bugger out of it though.

Thanks; I just checked my schedule and realized my appointment is only a week away. I still might try to call and see if they can squeeze me in sometime Wednesday or later. I'd try to get in tomorrow, but I need labwork done for the main reason for the appointment.

One thing's for sure: Getting a cure for the itch makes me no longer give a fuck about weight-loss lectures.
