While I agree, I do believe there were long-haired historical warriors who went hair-down into battle. Not practical, sure, but when you're talking about Legolas fighting in LOTR, his hair is really not significant on the list of what's impractical.

As a long-haired lady MMA fighter though, I basically always do french braid pigtails. It's fucking hard to keep hair pinned up when you're rolling/head otherwise touching the floor often - I've tried, it falls out and pins poke your scalp. Then again, grabbing hair is illegal in MMA, so as long as it's out my face I don't think too hard on it.
