Basically.

Like others have said, I think Martha gets a pass with me because IIRC Martha wasn't much of a brawler; she used guns, like the cast of SPN. However, the SPN cast also gets a lot more 'hands on', so I think OP has a bigger point with them. Thor...well, he's a god, maybe that gives him an excuse, but Legolas is a so-so area for me since he's mainly an archer and so a long-distance warrior, though he's definitely very competent with his knives and his hair never seems to get in the way of that.

At the end of the day though, I just let it go because 'fantasy', and also it's hot. *shrugs*

Yeah it depends on the character. I do think a lot of the time it's done just for the visual appeal and whether that bothers me depends on the media I suppose; it's alright if it's more of a fantasy-type setting where there's already a lot of handwaving, but if it's suppose to be super gritty and realistic then I want the fighting to be realistic too (this also applies to things like not wearing boob armor).
