Are you on a diet?

[personal profile] supermanda 2016-07-06 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
what do you eat, F!S?

I don't "go on diets" but like everybody who eats, I have a diet. Sadly right now mine largely consists of a variety takeout and frozen that runs the gamut of the health spectrum.

I need to clean my kitchen so I can cook and meal plan but every time I walk in there I just get depressed by the magnitude of work and go do other things.

Not currently. Probably should be.

Nope. I just try to balance everything out by eating healthy with a mix of sweets. It helps that I really love vegetables and fruit and snack on them all day.

No but since I'm older I try to watch what I eat and not get too crazy.

I am not on a diet, but I have a diet that I follow for optimal nutrition. As should anyone who values their health.

I pay attention to whether or not I have consumed protein (if so, how much?) and whether or not I have sufficient sources of calcium, B vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids, iron...etc. I make sure if I'm eating a source of strict vegetable protein that I'm making it a complete protein.

I abstain from processed food and other garbage unless it's a special occasion. I don't let myself have "special occasions" more than a few times per week. I drink tea, coffee, or water. I make sure I consume enough water to stay hydrated, especially if it's warm or I have been outside.

The only time I really deviate from this is when I'm travelling or I have limited options. Otherwise, my nutrition is fairly regimented these days.

honestly buddy if you have "special occasion" processed food a few times a week you probably have about as much processed "garbage" as the average Joe

I don't though. 2-3 times a week is a maximum limit.

My usual intake is more like once per month, if that. In the last two months it has been... once. I had some chips at a friend's place.

I am on a gluten free diet since I have celiac disease. I mostly eat meat, rice, dairy, and some veggies.

Taking pain pills right now, so I eat more carefully. And I've just generally been eating healthier the past few months. No specific diet, just more fresh stuff, less processed and less junk.

Ready meals, kebabs, fast food, and supermarket meal deals.

Looking to change it, but long shift work and high stress is just killing any possible motivation or energy to cook at the moment.

I'm sort of... pre-diet? I had a talk with my GP, and right now I'm keeping a food diary, so that I can eventually go back and get a referral to a dietitian or something.

I eat low carb (keto) in order to lose weight, but it's quickly becoming a lifestyle. Sometimes it's tricky, but I feel better when I'm not eating so much bread, no matter how much I like it. I've also discovered a lot of vegetables I'd never had before, so it gets me experimenting.

no, i'm anti dieting. if i'm going to change my eating habits i got to into thinking of it as a lifetime change because that's the only way i'll keep consistent.

Not a diet in the way most people think of them. I track what I eat to have a better understanding of my overall nutrition, and I'm trying to get more protein daily. And to avoid refined carbs and sugars so I can keep my blood sugar stable.

I eat what I like and can afford and try to make it healthy. Sadly, right now it's really not because I'm avoiding being at home so I don't use my kitchen much. Hoping that changes soon (making progress with this situation with a phone call set for tomorrow, hopefully).

I eat more vegetables and fruit than I used to, and I have more healthy days and more healthy meals than I used to, but on the whole, my diet is still basically garbage

Not on a diet, but my diet's going through rapid change, again. My old roommate and I split groceries. He bought lots of bread things and flour to make bread, and my default is usually pasta when it's a performance week (extra EXTRA busy, since I'm the one who plans and runs the show) since it's quick and easy, and you can make it as simple or complex as you want. Now that he's moved out, though, I'm buying more fruits and veggies and less bread things. I still have his fiancee's bread recipe (yummmmm), but I don't bake nearly so often as I cook.

Moral of the story, I'm gonna be getting way more veggies and proteins of various kinds now that he's gone. I love 'im, but the boy runs on bread.
