The mods spread a rumor on the board that one r34 artist who drew incredibly show accurate art was a child molester who had been convicted and then they started a blacklist of everyone who watched him on dA
Holy shit. That's horrible.
Yeow. I'm not at all well-versed in this show or its fandom, so this is fascinating to read about, but I pity anyone in that fandom who had to deal with that madness.

and i know. The scary thing is that when I was 15 and a member of that forum I believed it, until a friend told me about how he believed it too and we both realized that we were both tricked.
For me it wasn't as bad because nobody did anything to me. But it was constant fear that something you did was going to get you banned/shunned. I was eternally nervous they would find out about my Ember/Danny fanfic (tho I aged Danny up to 17.) and I'd try to login only to find i was banned and dubbed an "anti-fan"
I think one of the truefans, White Gryphon may still have their stuff on dA. They were insufferably self righteous. Created a"I"m not going to compromise my morals for your attention." stamp. Was one of the people who were like "OMG you're practically RAPING Danny with your art an shipping."

(Anonymous) 2016-07-07 01:24 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, that is one hell of a weighty accusation, and it pisses me off that people use that term without even understanding the serious consequences and what it actually means, just because they don't like the type of fic or pairings or drawings people are making. It's like how the word "pedophile" is getting horribly misused nowadays in various fandoms. I just want to throw dictionaries at those people and tell them to shut up.
And like you said, the fact that they can scare young people with those accusations about someone makes it even more horrific. Ugh. I don't blame you for being nervous back then, I would've been, too. I'm glad nothing happened to you, though, at least.
