As someone who was, in the past, suicidal, fuck you. I was sick. Very sick. No, it wasn't 'okay' for me to kill myself, no matter how much I wanted to at the time, and I thank every god out there that there were people there to stop me and help me get better.

As someone who was also suicidal in the past, I totally disagree with you. I wish I had been allowed to die rather than live in perpetual worry that my depression will return over and over again. Sure I feel okay now with meds and my family support, but if I wanted to die, I should have, as an adult, been allowed to make that choice rather than being locked in a hospital.

I really don't give a shit. You are suicide encouraging, and spitting in the face of countless depression survivors.

I'm saying I think people should have the right to chose rather than have a doctor decide for them.

Yes, turn your back to mentally ill people with irrational and severely depressed thinking, you really sound like you have the ethical monopoly here.

Suicidal mentally ill people are literally incapable of "choosing."

My friend was suicidal a few years ago and I actually had to call the cops on her to stop her from hurting herself. Back then, she really did want to die.

Today? She's got a job she loves, a nearly two-year-old nephew she dotes on, and she got a new puppy. Just the other day she was gushing about the cute new guy who ended up in the cubicle next to her at work. If she'd made that choice back then it would absolutely have been the wrong one because she's happy now and doing well.

As someone who has seen the remains of too many suicide victims who died horrible deaths in private or in public because they were determined to die and actively avoided the Mental Health profession due to it forcing a treatment plan on them, I find the idea of legal suicide much kinder and more pragmatic than denying it. If some people genuinely do not want to live then they will find a way to kill themselves, I'd rather it was a humane way or one which did not involve them mentally scarring commuters or motorists.
