Great so far. We adopted a kitten, and I came home to a hold notice in my inbox from a market I really want to crack for a story I really want to sell.

Kitten! \0/ How lovely. :)

What's a hold notice, anon? Congratulations, even though I don't quite understand it.

It means that the publication is holding the story for further consideration. When the submission window closes, they will make final decisions. So, it's not an outright rejection, and it means they might buy it.

Or they might not. But it's a Good Thing, nonetheless. Especially since this particular publication only takes anonymous submissions, so the story is being held because the editor liked it, not because he knows me. I always get a little extra thrill when a story is accepted at a market like that.

That is very exciting! :) Congratulations. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that they buy it.

Kitten!

When I went to Petco to get some cat food, the cat adoption group was there, so I got to look at kittens, but neither my mom nor my cat would be okay with me bringing any of them home.

(There was one polydactyl cat who'd actually been found in the parking lot of the Petco. She was named Juanita, because the employee who found here is named Juan.)

She is an adorable long-haired tortie-point Siamese mix. She, too, was at a PetCo adoption event, but we'd been talking to the adoption place for awhile about her. We haven't introduced her to the other cat yet, but the other cat was in a multi-cat foster household before we got her, and we think she'd be happier with another cat around.

I'm more worried about the guinea pigs. Four of them don't seem all that concerned, but the fifth one is kind of freaking out a little, even though he doesn't freak about the full-grown cat. The little weirdo.

She came with the name "Bianca" but for some reason the Child thinks it makes her sound fat or... something. IDEK. No one's come up with anything better yet.
