Star Wars Spoiler

Hux's first name has (possibly) been revealed:

At the very least, it brings some interesting backstory to Hux's family.

The people I follow on Tumblr are in denial because they've all headcanoned his name as Brendol. Armitage blindsided them.

I'll admit that I've gotten used to his name as Brendol Hux and I haven't really liked when authors come up with their own names. To me, Hux is Hux. Nothing really sounds right as a first name. Armitage Hux sounds weird at this moment but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm actually really glad he isn't named Brendol Hux Jr. We already have a Brendol Hux. I'd like him to have his own name.

I find the illegitimate thing to be much more interesting than the name. Either that he's illegitimate or has an illegitimate brother, it gives some really interesting dynamics for his history that I can't wait to see people exploring in fic.

IDGI, why "Brendol"? That sounds like a brand of foot fungus cream or something.

I think that is his father's name? I'm not into Star Wars so all I know is what I get from Tumblr.

Brendol is the name of his dad in one of the Star Wars books.

That could be the next online quiz: Star Wars character or health care product.

26 out of 30. Credit where due, a couple of drug names were very Elven and at least one Elf name was very druggy.

Some of those are pretty obscured but I knew all the elves. :)

LOL, I employed the same strategy. "Whuh? Never heard of him, DRUG!" But I somehow missed one of the Nargothrond dudes, proving once and for all I am a Gondolin girl.

Jesus, but that is some unreadable prose. Shitty present tense again, and very unclear on perspective because of it.

Yeah. I'm hoping that it reads a little better in context but even what's there is too on-the-nose for me.

I'm disappointed with Aftermath for the same reason. Bloodline and Lost Stars were at least decent books, but the Legends books were generally better than the stuff they've had come out lately.

I like the name in a way and I'm secretly celebrating how some people are so very salty about it.
(Fuck all those Brendol Jr.s and Elans.)
