I think you may have skipped over the entire sections of yaoi and yuri manga that's were not dj.

This was going to be my response. It seems disingenuous because you have to pretend there's no such thing as gay in manga, which is bullshit.

OP

I meant the people who were like "ALL THE GUNDAM WING BOyS ARE SUPER GAY FOR EACH OTHER OMG SQUEEEE"

Like I knew there were legitimate yaoi and yuri, but I'm referring to the noncanon stuff that, these days, tumblr kids are like "no, duh, they just can't do it because America is homophobic, SwanQueen is endgame".

I get what you are saying, your secret just made it sound like there are no canon queer pairing in any manga (when there are actually whole genres dedicated to just that).

Maybe OP likes genre fiction (but with some shipping opportunities) more than primarily romance-based works?

I've been super into slash (het and femslash too tbh) for a very long time but I never liked the Gundam Wing slash ships except for Treize/Zechs but I much preferred Noin/Zechs and Treize/Lady Une over it. I was pretty much all about het in Gundam Wing so it's always a fun conversation to have when I meet slash fans who were in fandom at that time because they are so flabbergasted that I don't like GW slash.

Because that doesn't exist. Yaoi explicitly refers to fictional couples. Are you perhaps thinking of BL? Maybe get your terms right before lecturing others :P otherwise you invariably look like an idiot. OP was right.

maybe you should get your terms right before you start acting like a sanctimonious prick.

Um, hate to break it to you, but as a general rule all manga characters, and thus ships, are fictional. And yaoi as a genre of manga does exist. In Japan it mainly refers to explicit sexual content.
