I never watched that show, but that was really weird. I had previously heard that the show seemed to forget about the "meeting the mother" part - maybe they panicked?

No, the showrunner said he wrote the ending in season 2 because he thought they'd be cancelled, and when they were in season 9 (!!!), he was like, "Fuck it, let's use this old thing because of nostalgia. Fuck character development and world building!"

AYRT - Oh. Wow. I'm really glad I never invested any time on that show.

(Also, I hate cancer endings. Like, it also ruined Mad Men for me..)

Also weren't Ted based on him? Which just makes the whole thing even more iffy.
