What about AYRT's post leads you to believe that Mr. "Life's too short to not eat all the cake" would be successful at managing diabetes?

Was referring to not wanting kids who had a chance of a shorter life comment.

Sounded more like they didn't want to risk having kids they might wind up raising alone because their husband has a high incidence rate of heart disease and diabetes, and is neither managing the risks nor showing the behavior patterns of someone who'd be likely to manage the conditions if they develop.

If you're diabetic and don't control your diet or weight, chances are you're going to have a shorter life, though... and the quality of that life won't be great , either.
